How Do I Decide?

Really, this is a long story about something you don't care about anyway.

I got my four year old's school pictures yesterday, and now I supposedly need to decide because apparently, after taking the first bad picture, they had to see if they could take another picture that was even more bad. See what I mean?

Not as good as this picture from last fall.

And I know what he is thinking to. He's thinking he can't believe it's picture day, and Mom didn't let him wear his cowboy boots. That's really crushing stuff when you are four. (And what's the deal with my kids and their shoes? I hate shoes. But now that I think about it, I think I do remember loving a pair of ugly white shoes that had some ugly leather fringe something or other on the top, when I was five or six. Maybe it's just the age. And that reminds me, I have found lately that my shoe wardrobe is lacking. But that really has nothing to do with anything so....)

There are many reasons why these pictures are not good:
  1. His teacher forgot to send home the note telling us when picture day was.
  2. I disregarded the automated telephone call from the school telling me when picture day was.
  3. It happened to be one of those mornings where I don't brush his hair. Oh, wait. That's every morning.
  4. He would have looked so much better in that Steve Harvey's Little Kings brand, church outfit we bought him at the Burlington Coat Factory.
  5. That morning I decided that I didn't care if his clothes matched or not. (My daughter may have gone to school in a orange shirt, purple shorts and red tights with lime green Tinkerbell shoes. Whatever.)
  6. He just wasn't feeling it that day.

Could be worse, I guess.

You know you could keep this picture and use it as leverage when he's older. You Know when he's being a real stinker. You could threaten to show all his friends! Or when he brings a girl home that you don't like you can show it and say something about this is what you can look forward too...The possibilities are endless! Wow...I have been hanging out with teenagers far too much!

Hey Leslie, I have some kids school pictures that look just like that. At least you didn't have to pay for the spring picture before you saw it :) Some kids just can't remember how to smile when they are told "smile".

Sorry to tell you, but my 1st grade picture is WAY worse. i wore this dress that had a bow at the neck, and I had this awful habit of always sucking on it. My mom made me promise to ask the photographer if the bow was straight. And I KNOW i asked him, i remember. But if you see the picture? It's totally crocked and clearly WET. So gross! But kinda funny...
