It's Offical, I'm a college student.

It's official everyone. I have attended two college classes on a college campus which makes me....A College Student!! Hurray for me!!

I am excited because:

1. My husband can now say that he has had sex with a college girl.

2. I have a new card with my picture on it that I can put in my wallet.

3. I am using my brain instead of mindlessly cleaning or surfing the net.

I was a little scared going to my first class so I pretended I was Hermione. That made me feel better.

I like college because:

1. It makes feel all growed up.

2. The little college boys that work in the library are cute.

3. My Math teacher is a funny old man which is precisely how a Math teacher should be.

I, Leslie, promise to: attend all classes, read all assigned reading, do all my suggested math problems, and turn in any assigned projects or essays on time. I also promise not to plagiarize or cheat in anyway or it will go on my permanent record called a transcript. If I need help I should ask for it because if I fail it is no ones fault but my own. Amen.

Who knew?

We just watched the Simpson's Movie. I love the Simpson's. But I think that thirty minutes of the Simpsons is just the right amount and I could have done without the extra 50 minutes or so.

It just doesn't seem fair...

Today they have cancelled school here in Kansas City because of the snow. But we only got a few inches. I remember when I was a kid waking up to my alarm and praying they would call a snow day. They never did. I remember my Mom having to drive me to Churchill in practically a blizzard and saying a prayer that we don't die on the way. I remember sitting on that stupid corner in the snow waiting for the bus that was hopelessly late again. I remember David Smart crashing their new Rav-4 on the way to school because of the snow. How is it that people in Utah can manage in the snow but the people in flat land Kansas need the day off? It's a conspiracy I tell you!

A nice inspirational story

This story was emailed to me by my Jazzercise instructor. I LOVE IT! Because if Rose can do it, so can I.

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. She said, 'Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?' I laughed and enthusiastically responded, 'Of course you may!' and she gave me a giant squeeze. 'Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?' I asked. She jokingly replied, 'I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids...' 'No seriously,' I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. 'I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!' she told me. After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this 'time machine' as she shared her wisdom and experience with me. Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up. At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, 'I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know.' As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, 'We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it! There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets.' She concluded her speech by courageously singing 'The Rose.' She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be. These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE. REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. We make a Living by what we get, We make a Life by what we give. God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Marvelous Mom Monday

One day my church magazine arrived in the mail. On the cover:Jesus Christ. At the time, my daughter was about 1 1/2 yrs old. We were working labeling things in pictures. I think to myself, what a good opportunity to teach my daughter who Jesus is. I held up the magazine to my chest facing my daughter and I point to the picture, "See, this is JESUS, yeah, JESUS!" My daughter points at her nose and says, "Jesus!". I look down at the picture, I'm pointing right at Jesus's nose. Now my daughter thinks her nose is called Jesus.

That, my friends, is good parenting.

So Sad Sunday

This was me in 1994. I was 14. I had a bad haircut. I told the lady I wanted a pixie cut. This is not a pixie cut. So Sad. My oldest brother saw it and said, " Cool, you look like a Romulon!" So Sad. One day I was walking down the hallway at school and I hear someone say, "Is that a boy or a girl?" So Sad. But this taught me that you can rise above a bad haircut. Hope is not lost. It will grow back and be right again!

New Year, New Template!

I have been wanting to do this for awhile but I was afraid to mess with those big long scary html codes. Meanwhile my friend Emily changed her template. It looks awesome. This gave me the courage to go ahead and do it! I LOVE the red! It matches my kitchen and actually my mouse too! What do you think guys?

Happy New Year

Every night at around 8pm, I announce, " K, it's time for bed !"  and my 8 yr old (who we now consider to be autistic) ...
