Over Sensitive

When I was 16 or 17, I realized something important about myself. My mood is largely effected by my surroundings. Listening to music is actually a very emotional thing for me. I like or dislike music based on the way it makes me feel. I avoid high action and violent movies, they instantly put me in a bad mood. If the people surrounding me are negative, I become angry and cynical.

Recently, I have read the books: The Giver, Uglies, and Among the Hidden. These are all books that deal with extreme governments that control every aspect of their citizens lives. Also, I just checked out Lost, season one on DVD from the library. We have been watching two to three hours of Lost every night. Plus, did anyone see the new episode of Lost last night? Whoa!! I can barely wrap my head around that one. Did not see that coming. Wow.

Last night, while I slept, I was in a field with what looked like poor farmers when government planes began to drop something that I thought was acid rain on us. It stung my skin when it landed on me. Everyone was screaming and scrambling for cover. Later, I was being held by this same government and trying to secure a fake ID so I could get away. Apparently, I wasn't supposed to be there. Then all of a sudden, I was on the run, but I kept running into Sayid from Lost. This was frightening because all I knew was I needed to stay away from Sayid. Needless to say this all made for a rough night. My husband told me I yelled out Nooo!! in my sleep.

I decided this morning that I need to lay off the Lost and the books that deal with these crazy governments, no matter how much they intrigue me.

March Madness

No, it's not about basketball. Sorry to disappoint you. (Not really)

(Football is cool-er anyway)
  1. Today is day four, people! Four!
  2. I have read two books over spring break. It was lovely. Now I am wondering if getting out the cross-stitch is worth it for just one afternoon?
  3. We bought one of those Jiffy trays for starting flowers and tomato plants on Saturday. I just looked, and some of my African daisies have already sprouted. These flowers are over achievers, apparently.
  4. I just got done watching 27 Dresses. Eh...The cover said it was the "ultimate romantic movie". Let me translate that for you, that means Leslie thinks it's full of crap.
  5. Ah, Jazzercise, how I love thee! I just can't figure out how my computer says I have gone 50 times this year, but your computer says 48. And what's more, my card in your box says I've only gone 43 times. How do you reconcile this, Jazzercise?
  6. Book Club is tomorrow. I am taking Egg Salad sandwiches. I Know! Fancy!
  7. I kind of have a thing for song lyrics. If I like the song even just a little, I have to know the lyrics. That way I can really belt it out in the shower or in front of the mirror. Or even while I Jazzercise. Yeah, they should just go ahead and mic me up. I'm sure I would just sound awesome. Yep, pretty much.
  8. Dear Meeka, I got an 82 on my last History test. And then I handed in the worst paper ever. Does that make you feel better? I hope so...... Love ya!

Just Got Back From Minnesota, eh.

My husband, just today, made a 7 hour drive in about 5 1/2 hours. (Don't tell my Dad) As always, we had a great time visiting my Mom and Dad. Here are a few of my favorite pictures:

Dang it!

I wish I had read this, before this happened earlier this week.

Clearly, I overpaid.

How Do I Decide?

Really, this is a long story about something you don't care about anyway.

I got my four year old's school pictures yesterday, and now I supposedly need to decide because apparently, after taking the first bad picture, they had to see if they could take another picture that was even more bad. See what I mean?

Not as good as this picture from last fall.

And I know what he is thinking to. He's thinking he can't believe it's picture day, and Mom didn't let him wear his cowboy boots. That's really crushing stuff when you are four. (And what's the deal with my kids and their shoes? I hate shoes. But now that I think about it, I think I do remember loving a pair of ugly white shoes that had some ugly leather fringe something or other on the top, when I was five or six. Maybe it's just the age. And that reminds me, I have found lately that my shoe wardrobe is lacking. But that really has nothing to do with anything so....)

There are many reasons why these pictures are not good:
  1. His teacher forgot to send home the note telling us when picture day was.
  2. I disregarded the automated telephone call from the school telling me when picture day was.
  3. It happened to be one of those mornings where I don't brush his hair. Oh, wait. That's every morning.
  4. He would have looked so much better in that Steve Harvey's Little Kings brand, church outfit we bought him at the Burlington Coat Factory.
  5. That morning I decided that I didn't care if his clothes matched or not. (My daughter may have gone to school in a orange shirt, purple shorts and red tights with lime green Tinkerbell shoes. Whatever.)
  6. He just wasn't feeling it that day.

Could be worse, I guess.

Wisecracker in Training

Yesterday, my little boy got off the school bus and about had a heart attack because the cookies were gone. I told him to calm down, there was more cookies dough in the fridge. He watched me make the dough into balls and put them on the baking sheet while the oven heated up. (Now don't get any crazy ideas about me being a supermom because I made cookies after school once.) I then walked over to the computer to finish the email I had started. A minute later, I look over and this little boy had a whole ball of dough in his mouth and one in his hand. I started teasing him in my best "silly tease the baby" voice.

me: Hey you! What are you doing? Did you eat the cookie dough?
him: Yeah!
me: Omigosh! I can't believe you did that!
him: Yeah! Call 911!

I totally did not see that coming. He totally cracked a joke that didn't involve calling someone a Googoo. Plus, there was an element of sarcasm. Anyone who knows me even just a little, knows that I am completely fluent in sarcasm.

This was a proud, proud moment for me.

Happy New Year

Every night at around 8pm, I announce, " K, it's time for bed !"  and my 8 yr old (who we now consider to be autistic) ...
