She's an Ar-tist!

My daughter has always been an artist.
Not that long ago, I found this "secret book" that belongs to my daughter and being the journal reader that I am, I looked all through it. It is awesome, check it out!

Translation: We're going to have fun at the party.
Translation: Mom is nice and sweet. Mom is my favorite Mom ever.

This was the first page.

Translation: Secret Book Don't see Girls invited to party Yes (check mark) My family Do not see the things that I wrote

I realized that it's basically a love letter to her mother, parties and fairies. Awesome.

Listage-Church Addition

Today we went to church. These are my thoughts on the matter:

  1. I kind of just got out of bed and threw myself together. I had bedhead and I didn't really care that my shoes looked horrible with my tights and I just put on a minimum amount of makeup. We had just came in and sat down a few minutes before I looked around and regretted this immediately. Everyone always looks so nice. Nice clothes, nice hair, nice jewelry. How early did these women get up? It takes quite a bit of time to look that good.

  2. We were just a few minutes late so we sat in the back row in the overflow. You can see everything from back there. My attention was drawn to all the mothers in the room. I watched one mom comb her little boys hair, more than once. I saw another mom wrestle her toddler quickly to the exit while gently telling the toddler that she needs to be quiet. I saw more than one Mom leave with a baby in one hand and a diaper in another. Church is not such a peaceful place for Mothers with small children. Good for them for going anyway.

  3. When going to the restroom, I can never decide. Pull the skirt up or down? Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Well regardless, those tights will not feel the way they did when I put them on this morning.

  4. I think church is the only place where you would walk down a hall and overhear one guy telling another guy how to make the perfect pot roast. Just sayin.

  5. We got home from church and we were immediately blessed. Our pipes in our master bathroom had frozen. We were changing out of our church clothes when we heard the shower become unfrozen and spraying full force. It's like god was saying that he was proud of us, and if we kept up the good work, more good things could happen for us.

  6. Push your shoulder to the wheel, push along!! Do your duty with a heart full of song! We all have work, let no one shirk! Put your shoulder to the wheel!!

So....

it's 2010 all of a sudden. How did that happen? Do you know what this means? DO YOU?

It means I turn 30 this year. DID YOU HEAR WHAT I SAID? I'm going to be 30.

Up till now, I thought 30 was this mythical number that was so far off in the future that I would NEVER reach it. I mean, 30 is old, right? OLD. I'm old.

How do you other old people deal with this oldness?

You must teach me your wise, old ways.

Prima Ballerina

Yesterday, I got the opportunity to sit in on my daughter's dance lesson. It was so wonderful to watch. She looked so beautiful and so grown up!
I was so proud!

Not that she did everything on beat or perfect , because she didn't (she is only 7 and this is her first dance class, after all). but it was awesome to see her so focused on something. If you know my daughter than you know that she is easily distracted and has a hard time focusing on the task at hand sometimes. Mostly at school, and mostly when she is doing some sort of chore. But yesterday in her dance class, and even though the room was full of parents watching her, she was so incredibly focused on what she was doing. I can tell she really enjoys going to dance class. My husband and I are very happy about this. It gives our daughter something to work for and something for her to be proud of. I'd say that those are both very important factors for her to have a good self esteem.

Did I already say that I was proud?
'Cause I am.

Hard Rock Cafe Minneapolis

After the Christmas display but before the Spoonbridge and Cherry, I mentioned that I was hungry. My Dad said that there was a Hard Rock Cafe right up the street, but that might be a little too much for him and my Mom. But they did drive me by to take a look and again, I was the only one to get out of the car. (I'm telling you, these people don't get excited about anything.) I checked it all out while they drove around the block. I went into the gift shop, had the hostess at the door take my picture with the big Hard Rock sign inside and then went out to flag down my family. I found them parked right in front of the restaurant in the most cherry parking spot you could ever find. Apparently, this parking spot was too good for my parents to pass up so they decided that they might as well eat at the Hard Rock. You see how the Lord helps me out with stuff like that? A parking spot! Who knew?

Check it out!!

Me and the sign!

My husband eating lunch with Bob Dylan!

Prince!

A sinful amount of melted blue cheese! A cup of buffalo sauce that I didn't even have to ask for!

Dear Hard Rock Cafe,

You and I were made for each other. I knew it when your hostess chased me down to ask me if I wanted her to take my picture with the guitar out front(Not the pic above, that was taken by moi.). I knew it when our waitress's name was Leslie too. I knew it when you played a video of Elvis directly after a Red Hot Chili Peppers video. I definitely knew it when you delivered a cup of buffalo sauce with my meal and I didn't even ask for it. It is because of that cup of buffalo sauce that I am willing to over look the Bruce Springsteen memorabilia.

I love you Hard Rock Cafe!

Happy New Year
