- Everyone has fun stuff to do over weekends like this. I do not. What's it like to have fun and friends and be invited places? I don't know.
- My family used to go up Big Cottonwood Canyon (in Utah) on Memorial day and have a dutch oven breakfast. It was a blast. We would roast marshmallows for smores and play cards while we waited for the hot coals to cook the food. If I could be anywhere I wanted today, that is where I would be.
- So I made my blog private for a couple of days. Did you notice? It was kind of an accident, but then I just didn't fix it. Then I seriously considered just taking the blog down for good. Mostly it's cause people like to look, but not comment. You know, maybe I'm insecure and all, to rely on other peoples comments for positive reinforcement, but I hate it when over ten people read, but only one comments. What's the deal? It makes me think of the whole public goods/freeloader problem. Are you a freeloader? Do you get enjoyment from reading Leslie's blog, and then don't contribute by commenting? When was the last time you commented on Leslie's blog? Freeloader? I thought so.
- I am about 20 pages from the end of Storm Glass by Maria V. Snyder. I have read it very slow. I started it on Friday. I love this author so much. It's just pure joy for me to read her books. I don't want it to end. She has another book, Sea Glass, coming out in September. At least I have something to look forward too!
- Leslie wants a vacation. No, Leslie NEEDS a vacation. Just somewhere far away from the husband's all consuming family. Something involving a beach would be great. Throw in a little bit of Valerie Pack, and I would be in heaven.
- Actually, I think that's about it. Cheerio.

Here is my Six year old's school picture. It's not horrible. I forgot which background I had picked for my little boys picture, so t...

Really, this is a long story about something you don't care about anyway. I got my four year old's school pictures yesterday, and no...

Yeah...I miss Big Cottonwood Canyon too. Even though it's close and I still could go if I wanted...it's not the same without my bros and sis. Wouldn't be the same without Trent passing out, or Dallon and Trent singing "Oh what a Night" or Taylor and you giggling, or Mom yelling at Dad for some dumb thing and we all laughing about it because really we think Dad is just funny. I miss my family.
Hey I am no freeloader :) I read the Gardner Walmart post while writing my talk I gave yesterday and then when I could no longer focus on my talk I went to post a comment and blocked.....
I do love reading your blog, it makes me laugh you can't let it go!
soo glad you liked the book!! who wouldn't? :) I'm trying to get everyone to read poison study series first before they start storm glass. ;) Hey I didn't notice you changed it to private...but then again I've been in the middle of no where Colorado visiting hubbys parents farm. it's almost like camping. ;) Hope you get a vacation soon!
Oh yes, I know how you feel about the no commenting thing. My last post had ONE comment. I have pretty much given up on my blog--I get better results on Facebook. Still, don't stop! I really enjoy ALL your posts! You sure have some doozy stories! You have a real knack, Leslie, of making anything mundane seem absolutely HILARIOUS. Lisa can do that, too. What is with you Whitney girls??
There are a lot of ways to increase blog traffic if that's what you'd like. There are blog listing sites. The most effective way I've found harks back to the adage "To have a friend you must be a friend". I get a fair amount of traffic/comments because I spend a fair amount of time haunting other blogs and commenting on them.
Get a follower button in your side bar. It sort of tells people that you're up for meeting new people and making friends. When I comment on a blog I haven't been to before, often the blog 'owner' will come back and comment on mine. Generally we'll end up 'following' each others' blogs and there you go. New blog friend/reader.
Oh I love reading your blog. I tend to blog stalk but I am trying to comment more so people know I have been there. I am half way through Fire study, I am really loving it!
It is true - I have been a free loader! I feel so ashamed :) Well - almost since I LOVE reading your blog and yet I never seem to see a comment on my blog from you either :) Storm Glass is GREAT!! Already read & passed on the love! ta ta....until next time!!
Do you consider me a free loader? Because sometimes I'm just laughing too hard and I have to excuse myself to go to the bathroom cuz I've had three kids and my bladder isn't where it's suppossed to be anymore. And then on my way back to comment, I get sidetracked by someone needing something or the phone ringing or the neighbor at the door needing an egg.....you know how it is.
But, I'm seriously glad you're back! Although you really might want to consider going private lest your in-laws read all the mean stuff you say about them. :)
Mean stuff? No, no! This is the stuff that makes it through the filter. You have no idea how mean I COULD be.
Amy-I haven't been able to read your blog simce you went private:(
Leslie, when did you start using economic terms in your blog. Lest you forget Lassez Faire. Besides, according to the principal of Specialization, you are the one who can blog the best with the least amount of effort and resources. So, in essence it is inefficient for others to comment on your excellent blogging.
Keep rockin in the free world.
Dallon, Dallon, Lassez Faire does not exist! But that is a fair point about specialization. I didn't think of that.
And yes, I like to throw a little bit of my newly accuired knowledge from going to school. Thanks for noticing. I feel smart;)
So Leslie, does your economics training make you prObama, or 'get that crazed socialist/marxist out of here'
I meant to say Fascist, not Marxist.
Well, that's a tough question. I would say that I'm optimistic about Obama's plans, but the accountant in training in me thinks he just might be crazy. It makes me nervous when they talk about billion dollar spending bills and such. So i don't know, I have to wait and see how some of this stuff pans out. But I really don't think he is socialist or fascist, aren't those contradicting terms?
