Wamego, KS. Home of the Wizard of Oz Museum. I took my daughter. The museum reminded me of Gettysburg (don't ask). I love good company and good picture opportunities.

My sweet daughter with some ruby slippers.
Believe it or not, I'm afraid of flying monkeys. Yes, I know, you never would have guessed. My parents drove in late Thursday night and Friday afternoon we decided to go to Mahaffie farmstead. We have previously tried to visit and we were unsucessful. But this time we enjoyed sweet success.I realize Mahaffie wasn't on my list in my previous post, but perhaps it should have been. Yes.......perhaps.
Mahaffie farmstead was a stagecoach stop on the Santa Fe trail. Food and shelter was provided in stagecoach fare. The bit of information that I was most impressed with was the fact that when Beatty Mahaffie moved from downtown Olathe to his farm about a mile away, he used oxen to drag his wooden cabin to the farm. Now days, they have little stagecoach rides and a few demonstrations around the farm.

The only drawback was that they did not have a penny smashing machine. The lady said, "Maybe someday." I hope so, Mahaffie, I hope so.

Never been to Mahaffie, we will put it on the list....looks fun! Just a note, when you go to the presidential library DON'T bring the kids...I love kids, but I brought mine and they hated every single minute of that place. Lots of stuff to look at and read and not one toy in sight...kids nightmare!
UUHH?? I've been to Gettysburg. I know you said not to ask, but...????
I like museums if I can be in and out in 34-ish minutes. 3 or 4 pictures can sometimes even be a good substitute for going to visit. BTW, I love the shot with the monkeys.
Who would have imagined a Wizard of Oz museum? Glad you enjoyed it but the dang monkeys would freak me out too!
Glad you got to visit with your folks too. Man, it's been a LONG time since I've seen them.
Ha, ha, Meeka. I was just kidding about the not asking. You know how Gettysburg is full of all these little tiny museums like in the middle of a bunch of stores? It had the same feel to me as that.
Two fun adventures! I am afraid of flying monkeys too. I saw a pair of the ruby slippers in the American History Museum in DC! So cool.
Mahaffoiey is giving me flashbacks of Nauvoo circa 1995.
