Dear Kansas,

Oh, how I love thee! You have so many trees.

Everyday I look up to your big sky, and sometimes I want to cry.

For I see the large hawks, the wild turkey, the mass migration of Canadian geese, and it gives me reason for glee!

Your people are diverse, even if some are perverse.

I pass a pick-up on the road, and I get a wave from some toothless toad.

Your summer nights are hot, but your grey winters are not.

Your summer days are divine, I pick tomatoes off my vine.

We spend our summer days together as I lounge in your sun at the pool. How I long for those summer days, they are just so cool!

But inevitably, your summer days must end. So red and orange sunsets you send.

But my Dear Kans-ass, you really do kick some ace.

I've lived here for eight years, there's just been a few tears.

Besides it could be worse, I could be living in Missouri.

Very interesting. Great poem. But what's wrong with Missouri? God said it was to be Zion. Adam built an alter there and also held a gigantic family reunion there. It looks a lot like Kansas to me. Kansas is cool, mostly on the East side though. The western part is just too plainsey, for me. There are not enough trees, rolling hills and too far between towns when you are traveling. I like East Kansas because that is where I discovered Penzey's spices. It has an awesome zoo, oops, that is on the Missouri side. Maybe Penzey's spices is too. The best part about Eastern Kansas is that two of my sweet and cute grandkids live close enough to visit occasionly. Then there is my lovely daughter Leslie and Jason the parents of those great grandchildren. Yes, Kansas is quite awesome. I like it because it is close to Missouri where Leslie and I have taken some fun shopping trips in little cutesy country towns. You were such a great sport about that, Leslie.

Kansas winters kicked my booty! But, the summers are beautiful and I miss the fireflies.
