Have You Ever Taken a Long Ride in a Hot Car?

Well, that's what we did yesterday. We drove to Tanglewood Lake. What's that? Never heard of it? I'm not surprised, it's clear down past Osawatomie, KS (John Brown, anyone?), past the Potawatamie River, almost to Mound City. (Look at a map, if you are so inclined.)

Now stay with me now, my husband's, Dad's, cousin's, son lives down there. (Did you catch that? That's how we do family relations around these parts.) He lives year round on some property in a 5th wheel trailer with his wife and two dogs. And get this, they pay an POA fee (like a HOA fee) of $125 per lot, and since he owns two lots, he pays $250 per year to live there! He says he pays a minimal electric and water bill of about $100 a month. Can you believe it?
This community was so funny, I loved it. First off, he had to come meet us at the gate. You can't get in or out without a pass. Swanky, right? Nah, there were more campers than houses, and most had a port-o-potty parked out side. It actually reminded me of a little cabin community in the mountains of Utah with all the big hills. We followed him into his property, we had to wait on the dam for a flock of geese to pass. If you look closely, you can see the cigarette hanging out of his mouth in the rear view mirror, I love this picture. Also, I would have posted a picture of the sticker just to the right of the yankees one, but this is a family blog. Buh dum bum.
The kids had a blast and wished when we left that they had a little house like that too. He did tell us if we were interested, that on July 6, the Tanglewood community is having an auction, and we could probably get a lot for less than a $100. Maybe next time......no, actually it would be a blast to have a place like that to go on weekends.
I also invented a new category of photography. It's called see what you can take a picture of while going 65 mph. It's fun, try it. This is what I got:

My brother lives in a gated community like that out that same direction. But he actually has a house on his property! It is really nice.
